Cockatiels have always been my specialty and remain my favorite species to work with. I am deeply passionate about raising them because I believe they make some of the most rewarding companions in the avian world. Known for their affectionate nature, intelligence, and approachable care needs, cockatiels are an excellent choice for both first-time and experienced bird owners. With proper care, they can live 20–30+ years, form bonds with the entire household rather than just one individual, and even learn to mimic words or whistle tunes. Like any bird, they do present certain challenges — cockatiels produce a fair amount of feather dust, which can affect those with sensitivities, and they require consistent daily interaction to thrive. However, their warmth, personality, and loyalty far outweigh these considerations. Having worked with many bird species over the years, I can confidently say that cockatiels stand out as exceptional pets, which is why they will always hold a special place at BirdsByUs.
